New Abu Dhabi-based hub combines marketing, trading and shipping capabilities as ADNOC targets 47 million tonnes of LNG by 2035
Abu Dhabi: ADNOC has launched a new global liquefied natural gas (LNG) marketing and trading platform in Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), bringing together the marketing activities of ADNOC Gas and XRG with the trading capabilities of ADNOC Trading under a single integrated commercial platform.
The move is designed to enhance flexibility, optimise shipping capabilities and support the expansion of ADNOC’s LNG portfolio, including the upcoming Ruwais LNG project, while strengthening customer access to global markets.
Expanding global LNG presence
The platform will support ADNOC Gas and XRG in managing an increasingly diverse LNG portfolio as both companies continue to expand their international gas and infrastructure businesses.
ADNOC said the new platform aims to handle a combined 47 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of marketable LNG by 2035, positioning it among the world’s leading LNG players and reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s role as a global energy trading hub.
Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO, and XRG Executive Chairman, said:
“With LNG demand set to grow substantially, the world will need reliable, responsible and trusted suppliers at scale. This world-class, integrated commercial LNG platform brings together the full strength of ADNOC’s marketing, trading and shipping capabilities to create a single global hub in Abu Dhabi.”
He added that the platform marks a significant step forward in the scale, flexibility and optionality of ADNOC’s LNG operations and will strengthen its ability to meet rising global energy demand.
New leadership structure
ADNOC has appointed Rashid Al Mazrouei as Chief Marketing & Origination Officer (LNG), responsible for overseeing the marketing of the combined LNG portfolios of ADNOC Gas and XRG.
Based in ADGM, he will lead long-term LNG marketing and origination activities while working closely with ADNOC Trading to centralise LNG marketing operations.
ADNOC noted that Al Mazrouei builds on the legacy of ADNOC Gas, which has supplied LNG to global markets since 1977 and delivered more than 3,500 LNG cargoes worldwide.
Supporting future growth
ADNOC said existing commercial LNG arrangements will remain unchanged, while the new platform is expected to create additional value by optimising marketing activities for both current volumes and future production from Ruwais LNG.
The platform will also support XRG’s expanding global LNG portfolio through supply hubs and offices in Abu Dhabi and London.
Long-term LNG marketing activities will be managed through the integrated platform, while ADNOC Trading will continue to act as the trading counterparty, with no changes to existing customer interfaces.
Trading and shipping capabilities
ADNOC Trading has rapidly expanded its LNG business over the past four years and is now ranked among the world’s leading LNG financial traders, with operations in Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Geneva.
Shipping will play a central role in the platform’s operations. ADNOC Trading’s LNG shipping desk ranked among the world’s leading LNG charterers in both physical shipping and freight derivatives during 2025.
Meanwhile, ADNOC Logistics & Services (ADNOC L&S) has expanded its LNG fleet to 20 vessels, including 14 modern two-stroke LNG carriers, supporting the UAE’s growing LNG production and global trade ambitions.
The launch represents a major step in ADNOC’s strategy to strengthen its position across the LNG value chain and enhance Abu Dhabi’s role as a leading global centre for energy trading and LNG commerce.
